Variety posted an article about Vera joining the prequel movie to the cult series The Sopranos. This is beyond exciting! The article also gives us a little update on the upcoming series Central Park Five which Vera apparently is filming at the moment.
Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga are set to join the cast of New Line’s “The Many Saints of Newark,” a prequel movie to the critically acclaimed HBO series “The Sopranos.”
New Line could not be reached for comment on the casting.
Plot details are vague other than the film being set during the Newark riots in the ’60s. The exact roles of Bernthal and Farmiga have yet to be revealed. More players from the “Sopranos” lore are expected to be joining the cast.
Series creator David Chase co-wrote the script with producer Lawrence Konner. Alan Taylor is directing “The Many Saints of Newark,” while Nicole Lambert and Marcus Viscidi will serve as executive producers. Chase has been hands on from the get go in the casting process hand picking Alessandro Nivola to play Dickie Moltisanti, along with Bernthal and Farmiga in their mystery roles.
Bernthal’s Netflix series “The Punisher” returns for a second season this January. He will next star in the indie film “Peanut Butter Falcon” alongside Shia LaBeouf, as well as the a untitled Ford vs. Ferrari movie where he plays Lee Iacocca. He is repped by WME.
Farmiga, who recently starred with Hugh Jackman in “The Front Runner,” will be seen next in Legendary’s “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” and Participant’s “Captive State.” She is currently filming the Netflix series “Central Park Five.” She is repped by CAA and Authentic Talent and Literary Management.
The Official Trailer for upcoming Captive State is now released and it looks fantastic. It will premiere in March 2019!
We know a lot of people are excited about this upcoming movie and the second trailer is also amazing! We hope to get to see Vera a lot in this movie and this is definitely a movie worth watching in the theatres. 🙂
Patrick Wilson talks a little about The Conjuring 3, it will be fun to see Patrick and Vera work together again!
Not only will they be appearing in Annabelle 3, but Patrick Wilson‘s Ed Warren and Vera Farmiga’s Lorraine Warren will also be back proper in The Conjuring 3, which Michael Chaves (The Curse of La Llorona) is set to direct. While the first two films centered on Ed and Lorraine investigating paranormal events at family homes, the third may be quite different.
Early this year, insiders gave us a very small taste of possible story details: from what we’re hearing, The Conjuring 3 will be about a man on trial for murder who claims he was possessed by a demon. This hasn’t yet been officially confirmed, but in a new chat with Digital Spy, Patrick Wilson does indeed tease that this Conjuring will be a very fresh experience.
“We just finished Annabelle 3 which is cool. It’s nice to dip our toes into that franchise a little bit,” Wilson told the site, first speaking about next year’s Annabelle sequel.
He added, “Conjuring 3 will be different than anything we’ve seen, which is fun.”
First up, Annabelle 3 is set to arrive in theaters on July 3, 2019.
Parade magazine interviewed The Front Runner director Jason Reitman and you can read the full interview at their website, but here is a quote he made about Vera.
You and Vera worked together in Up in the Air. What was it like working together on a second movie?
I was thrilled to be back on set with her. She’s just such a thoughtful and nuanced actor. She approaches particularly complicated human beings with a sense of nuance, and that’s not easy to do. There’s an interesting kind of bookend of Up in the Air and The Front Runner, because the two movies actually kind of play two different sides of an affair.
Some interviews with Vera released to promote The Front Runner and also a ‘Making of’ featurette with the lead Hugh Jackman.
